Riverwalk Inn is a small 12-room hotel & breakfast cafe located in beautiful downtown Chelan, WA. We are across the street from Riverwalk Park and the Chelan River, and have a great view of mountains and lake. Shopping, swimming, boating, bars, and more located just a few walking minutes away. We will happily help you arrange winery tours, rides to the Chelan Boat Company dock, bike rentals, and give you as much information that we know about the amazing treasures Lake Chelan has to offer.
The Riverwalk Inn was built in 1918. History shows that the building has most likely always been a lodging facility. During the time that it was built, the mining operation taking place up lake was in full swing, and it is assumed that the Riverwalk Inn was built as lodging to support those involved.
During the 1950’s and 60’s, the Gordon family owned and ran the building as a motel. At some point after that, it was purchased and run as the “Travelers Inn” until it was sold to Mike Sherer in 2001. The building was in a state of disrepair, with nearly all the rooms unusable due to degradation of the plumbing. Mike immediately went to work renovating all three buildings, and adding a commercial kitchen and a café area. He spent three years working tirelessly on the three buildings, completely ripping out and rebuilding the two side buildings. He then updated the plumbing and electrical, along with many other things. By the summer of 2004, all three buildings were in operation again. Being a navy veteran, he gave the hotel a naval theme.
In 2011, Kate and two friends leased the building from Mike and added the restaurant, now open to the public. In 2013 Kate, Mandi and Blaze decided to buy the building and expand the breakfast menu, continuing to run the hotel, and updating things when possible.
We hope you enjoy your time here! We are always open to suggestions for improvement, as this is a constant work of love for all of us and we want you to have the best Lake Chelan experience possible.
